TITLE: Executive Director

FLSA STATUS: Exempt (Fair Labor Standards Act)

CATEGORY: Regular full-time




Directs, coordinates, and oversees the ongoing administration of the U.S. Catholic Sisters against Human Trafficking including all projects, programs, and the work of the National Office as described in the Articles of Incorporation, the Bylaws , and Policy Handbook
Provides executive leadership in concert with the national board and executive committee
Represents, speaks, acts for, and interprets the organization in external forums
Provides executive leadership within the national office and among staff members
Provides leadership and engages in fundraising efforts
Builds visibility of USCSAHT
Is responsible for budget development and financial accounting in collaboration with the finance committee


Officers and National Board

Assists the USCSAHT executive committee and the national board in carrying forward the mission, vision and goals of USCSAHT
Gathers agenda items and prepares all background materials for each meeting of the executive committee and the national board
Oversees the planning and execution of the annual meetings of the national board
Oversees execution of decisions made by the executive committee and national board
Notes trends and/or evolving situations that could impact the organization and/or its members, and alerts the officers and/or national board of these trends
Calls attention to evolving policy needs within the organization and participates in the formulation of policy
Serves as an ex-officio member of the executive committee and the national board

Other organizations and settings

Represents and negotiates on behalf of USCSAHT in appropriate external forums
Provides for representation of USCSAHT in collaborative endeavors with Talitha Kum and collaborations with other organizations
Serves as USCSAHT representative / liaison on various boards and committees

National Office

Initiates, coordinates, and oversees processes of administration, including planning and program implementation, communication, organizational procedures and functions
Is involved in actions to effect justice for victims of human trafficking
Oversees development and completion of programs/projects in order to fulfill the purposes and goals of USCSAHT
Directs program efforts of USCSAHT committees and working groups
Exercises responsibility within the parameters of national board policy
Oversees the operating budget and the reserve funds of USCSAHT
Defines and helps develop staff positions and provides opportunities for staff development
Hires, oversees, evaluates, and terminates staff members, as appropriate
Engages interested and qualified board members and other professional resources



MA or comparable level of education/experience
Competence in administration
At least three years’ experience in administration with a faith-based or not-for-profit organization
Developed skills in spoken and written communication, electronic & social media
Knowledge of budget development and financial accounting
Knowledge of the mission of USCSAHT
Broad knowledge of major current trends and issues in church and civic spheres
Commitment to justice for women and men in church and society
Understanding of national organizations committed to ending human trafficking and their agendas
Commitment to nurture a sense of volunteerism and to engage board members and others in the work of the organization



Full time position
Office site is flexible; position will not require relocation
Regular on-site office hours; evening and weekend hours as needed
Frequent travel required
Reports to national board and is immediately accountable to the President of USCSAHT
