Parish Bookkeeper / Business Manager

Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church (70 Shepherd Way) Frankfort, KY is seeking to fill the position of our parish’s full-time Bookkeeper / Business Manager.
PRIMARY FUNCTION OF THIS POSITION
The Parish Business Manager is a professional administrator in service to the Church and School. This professional is a steward of the financial and personnel resources of the parish. The person in this position is responsible for budget development, parish & school finances, payables & receivables, helps coordinate functioning of support staff, and assists in coordination of parish fundraising efforts. In collaboration with the Pastor, Parish Manager and other staff members, this person integrates effective parish management within the overall parish mission. The following is a brief description of some of the duties:
Performs bank reconciliations monthly & deposits as needed for all parish and school bank accounts.
Pays all bills for church & school.
Performs all day-to-day bookkeeping duties for the church and school.
Prepares monthly financial operating reports and Diocesan financial reports for church & school.
Coordinates all business and financial operations for the school with the principal including the management of student registrations, correspondence with school families, school receivables and school budget preparation.
Performs all accounting, bookkeeping, and account reconciliations, including subaccounts for school and church
Performs monthly posting of journal entries related to school tuition and fees. Balances all income and expense accounts to Excel spreadsheet as instructed by the Director of Accounting at the Chancery. Monitors and balances data integration to Quickbooks from Facts Tuition Management.
Coordinates the preparation of the annual parish and school budgets, with the Parish Finance Council and various committee chairs.
Monitors Operating Budget vs Actual on a monthly basis and keeps pastor and Parish Finance Committee informed of the financial status.
Attends all monthly Finance Council meetings and provides financial information as needed.
Adheres to the chart of accounts as instructed by the Secretariat for Stewardship.
Applies for all licenses, corresponds with, maintains, and files all reports associated with the Office of Charitable Gaming and Alcohol Beverage Control.

Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, exercises excellent analytical, organizational, and computer skills.
Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be able to work in a collaborative team effort.
B. Education, Training and/or Experience
A degree in a business related field preferred or equivalent knowledge and several years’ experience in a management position with multiple responsibilities.
Skill: Computer proficient.
Proficient in Quickbooks accounting system.
Communication with Parish administration, staff, Committees, and Parish Leaders.
