MMU invites applications for a Campus Minister who will work collaboratively with the Chaplain and Coordinator of Liturgy and Worship to maintain a vibrant pastoral ministry department and other staff members to promote the goals of the Mission and Ministry Department. The Campus Minister will be designing programs and opportunities for students that enrich Mt. Mercy University’s Catholic identity and Mercy heritage by promoting and supporting its mission and values, upholding Catholic teaching, fostering the charism of the Sisters of Mercy, and providing leadership in areas such as prayer, ecumenism, social justice, and diversity.
Primary responsibilities of the Campus Minister will include: (1) Promoting and supporting Catholic Identity and the mission and legacy of the Sisters of Mercy; (2) Educating and developing the Catholic Moral & Social Teaching and the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy; (3) Organizing, planning, and facilitating opportunities for Catholic students to explore and experience their faith more deeply through study, faith formation and liturgy; (4) Supervising, training, and providing leadership for the Peer Ministry Program; (5) Creating opportunities for students to engage in service and social justice efforts; and (6) Facilitating ecumenical awareness in the campus community by sponsoring opportunities for students of various faith traditions for worship, prayer, and study.
Candidates must be a practicing Roman Catholic with an understanding and commitment to the Roman Catholic Church and its teachings and a witness to the Gospel in love. To be considered, candidates should have a BA degree (Masters preferred) in theology, religious studies or ministry as well as 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
