Position Summary
The Kuntz Endowed Chair in Educational Administration will be a nationally recognized scholar active in the field of Catholic education, and will be appointed at the rank of tenured professor or associate professor in the Department of Educational Administration (EDA). The individual holding this position is expected to provide expertise in the area of US educational leadership for Catholic schools as executive director of the Center for Catholic Education and to demonstrate through scholarship the intellectual focus of the Center for Catholic Education (CCE): teaching and leadership in Catholic K-12 schools with attention to the United States’ diverse contexts. The Kuntz Chair’s research will contribute to the national and international reputation of the Center by making significant contributions to scholarship and innovative programming for Catholic schools. The position requires teaching in the EDA department, which includes mentoring doctoral and MSE students, PhD dissertations, and encouraging students’ professional development. The Kuntz Chair will teach, supervise and advise graduate students, conduct scholarly research in Catholic education, supervise CCE programming and operations, and promote the national profile for the Center. The Kuntz Chair will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across campus as well as the other two (2) Marianist Universities – St. Mary’s and Chaminade – and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
To pursue this agenda, the Kuntz Chair will teach one (1) course per academic year, to be determined in consultation with the EDA department chair. The Kuntz Chair will have access to discretionary funds to support their work, have an administrative assistant, and opportunities to work with a graduate assistant.

Minimum Qualifications
• An earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education or related field
• Distinguished record of scholarship in their field with evidence of scholarship in US Catholic education
• Experience in strategic administrative roles
• Articulated commitment to inclusive excellence in teaching at the graduate level and to support the CCE’s and UD’s
commitment to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Minimum of 10 years of excellence in teaching undergraduate or graduate students
• Effective written communication skills
In addition to the above requirements, appointment at the rank of Professor requires a record of teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with the criteria for the rank of Professor in the School of Education & Health Sciences at the University of Dayton.
Preferred Qualifications
While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
• Expressed willingness to engage with Marianist principles and traditions
• Demonstrated experience with Catholic educational traditions and practice
• Research focus that engages the diversity of US Catholic school settings (urban, rural, suburban)
• Demonstrated success in advising, directing, and/or mentoring students
• Demonstrated record of leadership and/or membership in NCEA (National Catholic Education Association)
• Demonstrated successful experience in one or more of the following:
-Building and maintaining partnerships with Catholic schools and educators
-Experience with administrative roles including operations and finances
-Potential in grant writing and fundraising
-Ability to integrate technology into instruction including web-assisted and other delivery models
-Advocacy at state, regional, and/or national levels to advance the profile and prominence of a project or center
-Managing large grant projects in related areas
-Working with and/or teaching socially and culturally diverse communities
• Professional-level proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint) and Google suite (Sheets, Docs, Drive,
Calendar).
• Effective interpersonal communication skills as evidenced by a demonstrated history of team building and collaborative decision-making
