Program Specialist at Retreat Center

OVERVIEW:

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Program Specialist works collaboratively with the Executive Director at Mariandale and the program staff to develop and present programs, liturgies, and rituals at the Center. The Program Specialist supports the mission statement of the Dominican Sisters of Hope and is guided by the vision statement of The Center at Mariandale, in particular, the strong emphasis on ecological spirituality and social justice concerns, and the Dominican Charism.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Works collaboratively as part of the program team and with the Executive Director of Mariandale to develop and present programs and retreats, and assists in evaluating and analyzing programs.
2. Serves on the leadership of the Hope Volunteer Community, to recruit, train and form volunteers, also overseeing their engagement in youth and college retreats.
3. Engages in outreach to new constituencies to bring new retreats to the Center;
4. Works closely with the Coordinator of Sponsored Programs, to sponsor a comprehensive array of programs;
5. As a prayer leader and pastoral person, helps lead liturgical services, labyrinth prayers, meditation, and Earth-centered reflective offerings;
6. Works with the Part Time Program Specialist to oversee the Chapel liturgical environment, eucharistic liturgies, and overall condition of the sacristy;
7. Helps to provide special prayer services and rituals for gatherings of staff members, as needed.
8. Functions as a member of the larger Mariandale staff, attending staff meetings and serving on program committees as requested;
9. Performs other duties and responsibilities related to the position, as specified by the Executive Director of Mariandale and as needed by the Center.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor of Arts required, Master’s degree in Theology/Pastoral Ministry or related area, spirituality experience preferred
• At least 2 years of pastoral experience in planning and leading retreats; spiritual direction certification a plus
• Experience as a facilitator of programs and leader of liturgical services and ritual experiences
• Strong skills in interaction with others and serving on a team
• Ability to help create an inviting, inclusive and hospitable environment
• Basic computer skills needed; experience with data-base systems a plus
• Supervisory experience helpful
• Previous experience supervising/ working with volunteers preferred

Working Conditions

This is a full time exempt position with a varied schedule. Flexible hours, days / evenings are required to accommodate the needs of the position.

This position is eligible for limited remote work, as per DSH Employee Handbook Policy #1:10.

Accountability

This position reports to the Executive Director of Mariandale

SALARY & BENEFITS: $63,700 annually. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision & life insurance, 403-b retirement plan, long term disability, and paid time off.
