Catholic Press Association media awards: The results of the Catholic Press Association media awards are in. NCR received 36 awards: 17 first places, nine second places, three third places and seven honorable mentions.

Technical difficulties knocked NCR off line for a few hours this morning, but the site was resorted at 9:30 a.m. central time, and we are back to normal operations.

Wrting in L'Osservatore Romano last month, the prefect of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith asserted that the ban on ordaining women to the priesthood is "definitive" teaching affirmed by "the ordinary and universal magisterium." A dip into the NCR archives would suggest the question wasn't all that settled in 1992. 

"While the institutional church continues to reject and dismiss the priestly vocations of women, communities of Catholics recognize women's gifts and walk with them on a path of radical inclusion."
