The U.S. House passed the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act on Jan. 24, making the 41-year-old Hyde Amendment permanent.
Abortion laws in Ohio: The Ohio Legislature has sent two abortion bills to Gov. John Kasich for his signature. On Dec. 8, lawmakers passed a measure to ban abortions in the state after 20 weeks, or five months of pregnancy. On Dec. 6, they approved legislation that would ban abortions when a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which is usually at about the sixth week of pregnancy.
Making a difference: When one considers the ways human beings are treated like disposable products it's hard to imagine how much worse it can get for the poor and vulnerable.
The proposed Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is "a wonderful opportunity to protect life," said Bishop Michael J. Bransfield of Wheeling-Charleston.
