Many Americans first saw a Catholic Mass when John F. Kennedy's funeral Mass was held at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Washington, D.C. The cathedral will be commemorating the 50th anniversary of that sad day with two upcoming events. First, this coming Sunday, November 3, there will be a concert of remembrance at 7:30 p.m. featuring the Cathedral's Scola Cantorum performing the Durufle Requiem, one of the most haunting musical compositions of the 20th century. Then, in the exact anniversary of JFK's death, November 22, there will be a choral Mass of remembrance at which Fr. J. Bryan Hehir will be the homilist. If you are in the DC area, please plan on attending these tributes.
