The School Sisters of Notre Dame, CP Province are seeking a part-time, 20 hour per week, JPIC/Shalom Coordinator. This a remote position with the necessity to travel occasionally. The candidate must live in the St. Louis, MO areas or surrounding area or in the Mankato/Minneapolis-St. Paul area or surrounding areas.
Job Overview:
The JPIC/Shalom Coordinator provides support for the JPIC Director and the Province’s fulfillment of its commitment to justice, peace, and care for our common home. It is a position that aligns with and promotes solidarity with those who are oppressed, human dignity and integral ecology. The JPIC/Shalom Coordinator participates in the collaborative work of the SSND Shalom North America Coordinating Committee (SNACC) and the SSND Shalom International Network. The JPIC/Shalom Coordinator reports to the Shalom Director.
Job Responsibilities:
In the province, the Shalom Coordinator:
Assists with promotion of the JPIC agenda of the province through awareness, education, and action, supporting local Shalom animation efforts
Coordinates in-person engagements with SSNDs, associates, and partners in mission. For example, a seasonal prayer service, legislative education and grassroots advocacy, participating in broad-based coalition work, presentation on a JPIC priority area to relevant constituents
Tracks state-level legislation, with a focus on issues related to immigration, climate, anti-racism, human trafficking, and nonviolence
As needed, write and disseminate timely action alerts for state-level advocacy
Become familiar with local and state-level government operations
Serves as primary point of contact for 2-3 Shalom committees
Contributes periodically to Connections and other communication venues, including social media
Monitors budget expenditures, work with the director to develop an annual budget
In the public area, the Coordinator:
Represents the province in collaborative JPIC efforts of religious congregations and LCWR in their geographic region
Facilitates local coalition networking with other organizations concerned about social justice
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field
Experience with planning and implementing: education sessions in-person or online, facilitating prayer, and/or advocacy
Understanding of the Catholic Social Teaching and familiarity with current Church documents on social and environmental justice
Awareness of current social justice issues, and a willingness to engage in ongoing learning
