Michigan AG report on Saginaw Diocese lists 37 priests accused of sex abuse in 75 years

One deacon was also cited in the sixth of seven such investigations into the handling of abuse in each of Michigan's Catholic dioceses. The report cites 104 victims, with most cases before 2002.

Detroit archbishop: Catholics 'stand in solidarity' with Jewish community after synagogue attack

Hours after a terrorist gunman attacked a synagogue in West Bloomfield Township, Detroit Archbishop Edward Weisenburger called for prayers and said Catholics in southeast Michigan "stand in solidarity" with their Jewish brothers and sisters.

The new Roman pontiff — the vicar of Christ on earth —  attended high school in western Michigan. Born in Chicago in 1955, Pope Leo XIV spent most of his childhood in the greater Chicago area, but he attended high school at the now-closed St. Augustine Seminary High School in Holland, to be exact.

The Michigan Attorney General's Office Jan. 8 released its second of seven expected reports related to clergy sexual abuse in Michigan's seven dioceses and outlined its findings related to abuse allegations in the Diocese of Gaylord.
