Detroit archbishop: Catholics 'stand in solidarity' with Jewish community after synagogue attack

Hours after a terrorist gunman attacked a synagogue in West Bloomfield Township, Detroit Archbishop Edward Weisenburger called for prayers and said Catholics in southeast Michigan "stand in solidarity" with their Jewish brothers and sisters.

The new Roman pontiff — the vicar of Christ on earth —  attended high school in western Michigan. Born in Chicago in 1955, Pope Leo XIV spent most of his childhood in the greater Chicago area, but he attended high school at the now-closed St. Augustine Seminary High School in Holland, to be exact.

Michigan AG issues report on its investigation of abuse claims in Gaylord Diocese

The Michigan Attorney General's Office Jan. 8 released its second of seven expected reports related to clergy sexual abuse in Michigan's seven dioceses and outlined its findings related to abuse allegations in the Diocese of Gaylord.
