"Faith does not allow us to stop at remembrance," Archbishop Ronald Hicks of New York said in his homily at his first Sept. 11 memorial Mass since becoming New York's archbishop.

The United Nations Annual Prayer Service was held at the Church of the Holy Family on East 47th Street, just across First Avenue from United Nations headquarters. The yearly service is offered by the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations.

Wester of Santa Fe, New Mexico, at a Nov. 29 Mass in Manhattan that remembered Catholic activist Dorothy Day, a candidate for sainthood recognized by the church as a "servant of God."
