Notes of Rest for the Sake of Earth

Thursday, November 18, 2021
6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. Central Time

Notes of Rest is an online musical mini-retreat hosted by artist-theologian Julian Reid. This ministry fuses reflections on the Bible with hymns on solo piano for the sake of cultivating rest, contemplation, and creativity in all who gather. In partnership with the Center for Religion and the Environment, Notes of Rest for the Sake of Earth is a hour-long event crafted for this community responding to the charge from the Lord to live with the Earth.

By letting questions emerge from a passage of the Bible, Julian will lead the participants in a time of reflection on how this sacred vocation in life and your faith shape one another. And towards the end of our time, you'll have a chance to respond creatively to what God's been doing in us. Write a song, draw a picture, sculpt silly putty, begin a screenplay, or do whatever else God's placed on your heart!

It is Julian's sincere hope that our time will make way for you to encounter the Lord, the one who completed the creation of nonhuman earth before the completion of humanity, whose salvation touches every corner of creation, and who delights in Leviathan. May this retreat draw you into deeper love of the Great Gardener.
