Editor

Liturgical Press, an internationally known Catholic and ecumenical publishing house of Saint John’s Abbey, a Benedictine Community in Collegeville, Minnesota, invites nominations and applications for the position of Editor, Give Us This Day. The Press is a trusted publisher of liturgy, scripture, theology, and spirituality evolving to serve the changing needs of the church.

The 2011 launch of Give Us This Day, a daily prayer devotional for today’s Catholic, revitalized the work of the Press with the spirit of Vatican II and the vision of Virgil Michel—the full and active participation of all people in the liturgy of the church. The Press seeks an experienced, spiritually mature, and ecclesially focused editor who is a practicing Roman Catholic and who can embrace the Benedictine charism.  The successful candidate will possess editorial experience in supporting many authors simultaneously toward crafting superior work, as well as a vision that welcomes a breadth of voices by seeking diversity and inclusion in both content topics and author-contributors.

The Editor of Give Us This Day plays a central role at the heart of each issue, providing leadership in the content curation and creation of this daily prayer companion with a centrist, Benedictine editorial profile. The Editor actively engages numerous authors and contributors who provide the spiritually enriching and liturgically attuned reflections that gives this monthly publication its diverse perspective. The Editor collaborates with the Give Us This Day team to ensure a consistent and unified approach to the marketing, sales and digital strategies of the Press under the leadership of the Publisher.

The Editor Search Committee will immediately begin the review of applications and continue work until an appointment is made. To ensure full consideration, applications should be received by April 30, 2023, and must include a letter of interest that addresses the mission of Give Us This Day and the experience, abilities and criteria described in the search profile, a current resume, and contact information for three professional references. References will not be contacted without the applicant's expressed permission, and all applications, nominations and inquiries will be held in strictest confidence. Applications should be sent electronically (MS Word or PDF) to: LitPressEditor@agbsearch.com
