Pope's quotes: "God's name is peace. The one who calls upon God's name to justify terrorism, violence and war does not follow God's path."

Your thoughts: NCR readers shared their thoughts on our editorial following the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas' decision to deny admission of a kindergarten student with same-sex parents.

Pope's quotes: "Prayer and concrete acts of cooperation help us to break free from the logic of conflict and to reject the rebellious attitudes of those who know only how to protest and be angry."

Your thoughts: NCR readers are welcome to join the conversation and send us a letter to the editor. Below is a sampling of letters received in the month of February 2019.

Pope's quotes: "We cannot remain indifferent. Today the world has a profound thirst for peace. In many countries, people are suffering due to wars which, though often forgotten, are always the cause of suffering and poverty."

Pope's quotes: "Some people behave in relation to corruption as they would with drugs: they think they can take it and leave it as they please. They start with something minor: a kickback here, a bribe there."

Your thoughts: The third installment of NCR reader responses to Melinda Henneberger's perspective on why she is leaving the church, and the counterpoint from Fr. David Knight asking Henneberger to "hang in there."

Your thoughts: NCR readers had a myriad of reactions to the Feb. 21-24 summit of bishops at the Vatican to discuss the clerical sex abuse crisis.

Pope's quotes: "The fraudster is a man who has no faith. The Gospel tells us about him in the parable of the dishonest manager. How did this manager arrive at the point of defrauding and stealing from his master? From one day to the next? No. Bit by bit."

Your thoughts: NCR's recent editorial "Pietà offers meaning amid the betrayal of the abuse crisis" elicited some strong reactions from our readers. The editorial goes hand-in-hand with Jason Berry's three-part commentary on look at how the sex abuse crisis has reached this point.

Pope's quotes: "The world has great fear, and spreads it. Often it makes this the key for interpreting history, and not infrequently adopts it as a strategy to build a world based on walls and trenches."

Pope's quotes: "The Church, without neglecting the present day, is called to work with a long term outlook, without the obsession of immediate results. She must patiently bear difficult or adverse situations or the changes of plan that reality imposes."

Your thoughts: More responses to Melinda Henneberger's "Why I left the church, and what I'm hearing about it" from NCR readers.

Vatican City: Here is the prepared text of the presentation given Feb. 23 by Valentina Alazraki at the Vatican summit on child protection. Alazraki, a Mexican journalist and writer, is the Vatican correspondent for Televisa.

Pope's quotes: "One cannot ask the ingenuity of the lamb, but the magnanimity of the dove and the shrewdness and prudence of the wise and faithful servant."

Your thoughts: NCR readers are welcome to join the conversation and send us a letter to the editor. Below is a sampling of letters received in the month of January 2019.

Your thoughts: Just before Christmas, NCR published an editorial announcing former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick as our publication's choice for Newsmaker of the Year. Many NCR readers wrote letters to the editor in reaction to our pick.

Pope's quotes: "It is not enough to point the finger or attack those who do not think like is. That is a wretched tactic in today's political and cultural wars, but it cannot be the method of the Church."

Your thoughts: After NCR published letters to the editor received from all over the globe to an opinion piece published Dec. 18 titled "Is sipping from the Communion cup a hazard to your health?," even more letters flooded our inbox.

Pope's quotes: "Today we ask for too much fruit from trees that have not been sufficiently cultivated. The sense of initiation has been lost, and yet the truly essential things in life may be reached solely through initiation."
