Spain’s long-delayed reckoning with sexual abuse within the Catholic Church entered a new phase this year with the launch of a reparations program for cases that involve accused clergy members who have died and whose alleged crimes are too old to be prosecuted.

The new system calls for Spain's ombudsman to review each case through an independent team of experts and propose compensation, whether symbolic, psychological or economic, that the church will then assess.

Spain's Catholic bishops and the Spanish government took another step Monday toward compensating victims of sexual abuse by clergy members who have died or whose possible crimes are too old to be prosecuted.

 A prayer verse is included at the base of the cross installed Feb. 20. It reads: "You alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High."

Latino men — like men of other groups — have supported Trump more than Hispanic women, and in some cases, in contrast to members of their own families.
