Commentator "gmogrady" pointed out that the last legitimate "heir" to the British throne was not, as I wrote yesterday, James, but Henry IX who is more commonly remembered as Cardinal York, a key figure in the Church at the close of the eighteenth century. James II was the last legitimate "occupant" of the British throne. My bad.
