New York parishioners petition Dolan for a more forceful racism statement: Parishioners of the Church of St. Francis Xavier in New York were let down by Cardinal Timothy Dolan's June 12 letter to the archdiocese. Amid nationwide protests after the killing of George Floyd, they felt that Dolan fell short of taking a strong stand against racism and police brutality. In response, they wrote a June 19 petition to Dolan, calling on the cardinal to "speak boldly."

Catholic university leaders call for their institutions to address systemic racism: Brian Roewe reports, "Heads of nine African American studies programs at Catholic universities are calling their institutions to 'conversion' to take meaningful actions to address systemic racism and more fully support people of color on their campuses."
