Mark DeMoss, a longtime member of the board at Liberty University, has resigned on account of Jerry Falwell, Jr's endorsement of Donald Trump. Falwell is the president of Liberty University and DeMoss worked closely with his dad, who founded the school. RNS has the story. To be clear: This is a fight within a family, and I suspect we will see more such fights as people come to grips with the fact that Trump is the nominee. It also shows the way Falwell enterprises work: No disagreements allowed!

In this morning's Washington Post, an article about veterans coming together to help each other prevent suicide among their ranks. It is a great tragedy that so many veterans feel inclined to take their own life. I would add that the push for physician assisted suicide encourages the idea that suicide is a solution to people's problems and that in every jurisdiction where it has been made legal, the suicide rate goes up among those who don't get help from a doctor too. Law has a didactic value, and we should be showing solidarity with our vets, as well as our elderly, not giving them a pill with which they can off themselves.
