At the Catholic Labor Network, kudos for Archbishop Blase Cupich and the Archdiocese of Chicago for setting out a groundbreaking policy on family leave. Check out some of their other posts and info on the website. This group is one of many Catholic groups that does a lot without the benefit of the kind of funding that projects on the Catholic right get.
Last night, on All Things Considered, Cardinal Sean O'Malley called for a ban on assault weapons, solidarity with the gay community, and very powerfully spoke to the plight of refugees. Cardinal O'Malley should give moe interviews because he is such a great face of the church!
At Breitbart, which is to conservative politics what Pravda was to the communist party, Mr., formerly Rev., Thomas Williams, (who is one of those people who feels the need to put initials after his name even when writing at Breitbart!) complains about the stunningly honest and empathetic statement by Bishop Robert Lynch after the massacre in Orlando. I think Breitbart is a good place for Williams to be writing: They deserve each other. As for me, I wish there were more bishops with the courage and the compassion of Bishop Lynch.
