At Religion Digital, the Spanish language website, Cameron Doody picks up my story about the outrageous "sample homily" posted by the USCCB as part of their materials for  National Migration Week. The homily is still posted at the USCCB. Should we count the days until they remove it? My article was posted on December 20, so it has been eight days.

At Politico, the tit for tat over Kerry's speech defending the administration's abstention augers ill for the future. When all sides are hunkering down, I think it is fair to conclude that the administration's decision did not further the goals it claimed to be promoting.

Also at Politico, a report on Burlington, Vermont, America's first "all renewable" city. It is a small city, but it shows that the rest of the country doesn't have to sit on the sidelines in the fight for policies that protect the environment, no matter what Trump does. Wouldn't it have been nice if the bishops had bothered to discuss what the Church can do at their fall meeting.
