Statement on the death of George Floyd:
  • One member mentioned some Bishops wrote and released a statement, prior to the statement USCCB released.
  • This statement was released by 7 U.S. Bishops on 29 May 2020.
  • On 31 May 2020, Archbishop José H. Gomez, USCCB President, released this statement.
Faithful Citizenship:
Members asked about the Papal document that Cardinal Cupich referred to while the Bishops were debating their Faithful Citizenship document. Another Member responded, saying that Cardinal Cupich was quoting from Gaudete et Exsultate ("Rejoice and Be Glad”). In the spring/summer of 2018, NCR did a Feature Series on the document that includes articles. editorials and a podcast.

A member suggests this article by Michael Sean Winters: U.S. bishops' conference clearly divided between Team Francis, culture warriors.

Here are organizations recommended by members:
  • Poor Peoples Campaign
  • GreenFaith
  • Global Catholic Climate Movement
