This news came in late Friday. Miguel D'Escoto Brockmann, Maryknoll priest and former foreign minister of Nicaragua, has died at age 84. We plan to have a more comprehensive look at D'Escoto's life and work later today.

June 12 is World Day Against Child Labor, established by the United Nations in 2002 "to focus attention on the global extent of child labor and the action and efforts needed to eliminate it." A meditation for the day: "Child labor and poverty are inevitably bound together."
